It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my beloved wife Irene Katherine Howanyk on February 23, 2026 at the Selkirk Regional Health Centre at the age of 67 years.

Irene will be deeply missed by her husband of 38 years, Keith Howanyk; mother Kathy Schoffner; sister Melinda (Don) Bihun; brother Robert (Maria) Schoffner; nieces and nephews, Ashley and Brendan Bihun, Koen, Annika and Mattia Schoffner. She was predeceased by her father Edward Schoffner.

Irene was born and raised in Winnipeg. She was proud of her roots and the community that she shared. She attended Edmund Partridge School and West Kildonan Collegiate. Irene went on to pursue her education at Red River College in Marketing. Through dedication and hard work, she built a meaningful career where she was respected for her compassion, integrity and strong work ethic. Irene took great pride in everything she did and touched the lives of many through her hard work. Irene loved her job at Mars Wrigley and the great people that she worked with.

Irene met Keith at Kildonan Park in 1976 and started dating almost immediately. On May 7, 1988 they got married and moved to Lockport where they resided together until her passing. Irene enjoyed spending plenty of time with Keith at Lee River boating and time spent with great neighbors and friends. Together they went on numerous trips to Mexico and various other places.

Irene will be very sadly missed by her husband Keith and family.
